The dispersion levels of graphene and go are extremely important for harnessing the full potential of graphene and its specific properties. If graphene is not dispersed under controlled conditions, the polydispersity of graphene dispersions, once incorporated into the device, can lead to unpredictable or non-ideal effects because graphene properties vary with its structural parameters. Ultrasonic processing is a proven process that reduces interlayer forces and enables precise control of important processing parameters. "For GO, which is normally stripped as a single sheet, one of the main polydispersity challenges is due to variations in the lateral area of the sheet. The average transverse size of GO can be shifted from 400nm to 20μm by changing the graphite raw material and graphene  treatment conditions. In many other studies it has been demonstrated that ultrasonic dispersion of graphene can produce fine and even colloidal slurries.

The study showed that stable graphene dispersions with a high concentration of 1mg·mL-1 and relatively pure graphene sheets can be obtained by using ultrasound, and the prepared graphene sheets have a high conductivity of 712 S·m−1. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy showed that the ultrasonic preparation method had little damage to the chemical and crystal structure of graphene.
